The prestigious award, which has been presented by the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, is given to an individual or group of individuals who have made an outstanding contribution over the last few months.
Our Hospice has remained open 24 hours a day, seven days a week since the pandemic began in order to take care of in-patients. We have also continued to provide care out in the community for those who still required palliative care at home.
Springhill was nominated after its continued and dedicated work was noticed both at the Hospice and out in the community caring for those in need and their families. The award detailed, ‘It is a wonderful thing to do and you do it within a framework of strong values. This has been a challenging and difficult period and yet you have continued your vocation with great skill and humility.’
Julie Halliwell, said, “We are absolutely delighted to have been given this prestigious award from the High Sheriff of Greater Manchester.
“I am incredibly proud of the work that we do here at the Hospice and the contributions and sacrifices that our staff and volunteers have made over the past few months to ensure that our patients are supported and continue to be cared for throughout the difficult times we find ourselves in.
“I would also like to thank the local community for their continued support in fundraising and volunteering through the pandemic, without this we would not be able to provide the services that we do.”
Our supporters are the reason we can care for local people and their families suffering from incurable diseases.
