Mike (Michael) Royds passed away peacefully on 10 May 2025 in Springhill Hospice.
Mike was a devoted family man. Dearly loved husband to Glen for 52 years, wonderful Dad to Wendy, Kirstie and Carolyn and adored Grandad of 4 granddaughters and one grandson. Mike was a fantastic brother, uncle and friend to so many people.
Mike loved his time as Mayor of Whitworth, proudly serving a Whitworth and Rossendale Councillor. A dedicated, forever optimistic fan of Rochdale Football Club. Since retiring he loved playing walking football with a great bunch of lads at the Dale. Mike was also a committed member of Harmony Lodge.
Just 7 weeks after his cancer diagnosis, he is gone. It's been a whirlwind of sadness, our hopes repeatedly dashed yet he faced it all with incredible courage.
Mike's funeral will be held at Rochdale Crematorium on Monday 2nd June 2025, followed by a funeral reception/wake at Rochdale Masonic Building, Richard St, OL11 1DU.
