Care of the highest standard
The Nursing and Medical staff on our Inpatient Unit have been caring for patients and supporting their families, for over 33 years. All our staff are proud to be part of the Hospice team and strive to provide the highest level of care to patients and their families.
Quality of life
Some people may think that working at a Hospice is a very sad place to be. Although we care for patients who are at the end of their lives, working in the Hospice focuses on quality of life, and we strive to make the life that is left as good as it can possibly be. Because quality of life is so important to us, there is a lot of laughter on the unit. We try to find joy in every day. “Making Every Moment Count” is not just our strapline, it is our ethos.
Development opportunities
We support our staff by ensuring they receive the training and development opportunities they need, to enable them to deliver the best care. Many of our Nursing Assistants have gone on to do further training, and we have Nursing Associates, Assistant Practitioners and Staff Nurses who started their career with Springhill as Nursing Assistants or Volunteers. Many of our Specialist Nurses started with us as Staff Nurses on the Inpatient Unit, and now deliver specialist care on the Unit or in the Community.
Flexible working
The Nursing team on the Inpatient Unit also provide our Hospice at Home service; they are a team of skilled Nurses who visit patients in their own homes, to offer the same standard of Hospice care we deliver on the Inpatient Unit. This offers our Nursing team variety in their roles. Staff are also able to ensure their working patterns suit their family needs. Part time and full time staff work day or night shifts, where a variety of hours can be negotiated. Some Nurses prefer to work shorter shifts and some prefer long days. All requests for flexible working are considered and, in most cases, can be agreed.
