Donating to our shops
Donating to our shops
Here at Springhill Hospice, we rely on donations from you, our supporters, to raise vital funds to care for our patients and their families. Your generosity helps us to keep our shops filled with high quality stock, meaning we can raise as much money as possible for those in our care.
If you would like to help by donating any unwanted items to Springhill, we would be delighted to receive them, You can donate any saleable items, including clothes, shoes, books, CDs, household items, collectables and anything else you think will help to raise money for the Hospice. We also sell electrical items, which are all tested prior to sale, and small pieces of furniture.
Even the items that you think may not sell such as bras, belts, socks, vests and worn/damaged clothing can still raise us money by recycling through one of our many agents.
In addition to being able to accept worn/damaged clothing we also work with some specialist recyclers which expands the products we can accept from you that may not be in good working order. These items include:
- Broken jewellery (or odd pairs of earrings)
- Broken clocks, watches and cameras (not digital)
- Small parts of scrap or precious metals (gold, brass, silver, silver plate, pewter and copper)
- Foreign or pre-decimal currency
- Medals and war memorabilia
There are two ways to donate new or used goods to our shops:
- Drop by and drop off – you can drop your donations off at any of our shops. You can also drop your donations off at the Hospice.
If you have items such as furniture or larger donations you can contact us and ask for a member of our team to come and collect these for you. To arrange a collection please call the Emporium on 01706 522844.
There are some donations that we cannot accept - if they don't fall under the above criteria, or aren't in good working order or a saleable. We will not accept any donations that we can't resell, recycle or upcycle as we have to sort these and take them to the tip to be disposed of which costs the Hospice money.
We would ask for your support with this when considering what you donate to us.
To help you, we have put together a guide of items we cannot accept. Click here to see a list of items we are unable to accept in our shops. If you are unsure about any items you have that you are thinking about donating to us, please contact the Retail Team on 01706 656994 who will be able to provide advice.
