The challenge:

The Yorkshire Three Peaks walk is a challenging, full day hill/mountain walk in the Yorkshire Dales. This is a circular walk, starting and finishing at the same place, and the total walking distance is approximately 24 miles (39 km). The challenge is to complete the walk within 12 hours. Starting in Horton-in-Ribblesdale you will climb to the summits of Pen-y-Ghent (2,227 ft, 694m), Whernside (2,415 ft, 736 m) and Ingleborough (2,372 ft, 723m).

To complete the walk in 12 hours you should be in good physical condition. To improve your chance of success three training walks are provided. It is very important that you also walk and train in between these organised training walks. Condition training is a great way to improve your fitness, eg weights, swimming, gym classes.

The training walks are organised and led by Mountain Edge. We recommend that you take advantage of these to help build your fitness and to give you an idea of what you might face during the Challenge. You will receive information about the training walks when you sign up for the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
