Inspiring others to work hard and achieve their best is all in a day’s work for the team at the new Rochdale personal training and gym facility, onePT. But not only does this team work hard, it plays hard too and for the benefit of local people, choosing Springhill Hospice as their Charity of the Year.
Members and staff of onePT stepped up to their first challenge of raising money for patient care at Springhill Hospice, with the searing heat of June seeing them travelling to Cheshire to take on the challenge of Rough Runner, the TV themed obstacle course race that is a mix of Total Ninja, Gladiators and Wipeout.
Led by co-founder, Dr Neil Fell PhD, the onePT team used fitness, strength of mind and team work to complete the 5km course. Having chosen to support hospice care in Rochdale throughout 2018, the team’s determination to complete the obstacle strewn challenge, was bolstered by the knowledge that the money they raise over the next 12 months will be going to help local people when it is most needed.
“We are delighted to be supporting Springhill Hospice. When it came to choosing a Charity of the Year, we put it to our members who they would like to support and the vote was absolutely unanimous. I know that a number of our members’ lives and families have been touched by the fantastic work and support provided by Springhill Hospice – and after the success of taking part in Rough Runner we look forward to organising and taking part in further events to help us raise as much money as we can over the next 12 months”
Plans are already in place for their next event when these fantastic fitness fundraisers will be taking on the Gauntlet Games in September.
