Summer Serenade 2016

Saturday 23rd July saw Springhill Hospice’s grounds transformed into a Summer Serenade to remember.  A combination of perfect weather, perfect pitch and plenty of picnickers made for an evening of entertainment enjoyed by everyone.  Compere, Dudley Doolittle, took charge of the fundraiser introducing Littleborough Band, Heywood’s own choir ‘Voice’, soloist Shelley Byrne and the wonderful tones of the Greater Manchester Police Male Voice Choir.  Even Arnie the Hospice cat joined the revellers.

Approximately £2,000 was raised on the night from ticket sales, a huge raffle,  sponsorship from local business ROMA Publications and an offer of £200 for tickets to the filming of Countdown, generously donated by Dudley Doolittle.

“It was a fabulous night of entertainment.  It was lovely to see our visitors picnicking in the grounds and even more wonderful that, as the concert is held in Hospice grounds, patients and staff could join in too.  We’re already planning next year’s extravaganza!” said event organiser, Fundraising Manager Lillie Winterbottom.

Don’t miss out on our next event, a chance to experience the Hospice award winning grounds.  The gardens will be open to the public on Sunday 7th August between 11 am and 3 pm at the Hospice annual Open Garden Day.  Visit the website:  www.springhill.org.uk/open-garden for more information or contact Elaine McConnell 01706 641790 elaine.mcconnell@nhs.net
