Santa Dash or Dawdle returns!
Springhill Hospices’ Santa Dash or Dawdle 2018 returned earlier this month and festive fun was had by all. Over 400 Santa’s (and even some elves and reindeers) could be seen making their way around Hollingworth Lake on December 9th for the annual Christmas fundraising event.
The 4km festive event launched back in 2005 with 87 Santa’s taking on the challenge but year on year the event has seen more and more people getting involved to raise money for the local Hospice. This year saw over 400 Santa’s take part along with a few four legged friends too.
The event ran very smoothly thanks to the help and hard work of both event founder volunteer organiser, Pearl Benbow and Springhill’s Event and Campaigns Fundraiser, Rebekah Cheshire.
Rebekah Cheshire added “What a fabulous turnout we had this year, with the weather favourably being on our side too. Thank you to all of our Springhill Santa’s for your wonderful support and to all our sponsors and the staff at Hollingworth Lake Visitors Centre for allowing the event to be a fabulous festive fundraiser!”
At the finish line the participants received a medal presented to them by Mayor Cllr Mohammed Zaman and a well-deserved break at the Visitors Centre.
Once again this year the Santa Dash campaign has received extra help in promoting the event from the Hospice charity shops. Each of the charity shops have taken part in our annual Santa Dash window display challenge. Hospice shops are competing for a prize for their volunteers through an online vote on the Springhill Hospice Facebook page which will be announced on Friday 14th December.
