The small but beautifully formed pub along Whitworth Road in Rochdale, the Mark Twain are amazing supporters of Springhill Hospice. Their lovely regulars and brilliant landlady Doris, very ably assisted by friend Bev, have been fundraising like mad over the last few weeks in readiness for their recent Summer Fete.
Generous donations of raffle prizes and items for auction, coins in the bottle, not to mention a £1 donation on the first pint really swelled the collecting coffers and what seemed an unbeatable total from last year's event was simply knocked out of the park with an absolutely unbelievable amount that was raised of £6,283.25. Hospice mascot Springy went along to thank everyone involved.
Speaking on behalf of the Hospice, Community Support Fundraiser Barbara Lloyd said, “Like us we're sure that even Mark Twain himself would find it hard to fathom such incredible generosity, and we are very grateful for all the support that's been given. We would like to thank everyone involved
