Light up a Life
December is a very special time of the year. A time to celebrate, reflect and remember those who cannot be with us as the year draws to a close. Springhill Hospice would like to invite you to join us at Light up a Life to remember the people you love by dedicating a light in their honour on a tree in the grounds of the Hospice.
To celebrate Light up a Life you will receive a special commemorative card, bearing the name of your special person, which you can display in your home, and cherish as a special keepsake. The name of each person for whom a light is dedicated will also appear in our Book of Lights, which will be available to view at our Light up a Life services, and will be on display at the Hospice throughout the year.
A Tree of Lights will be illuminated at Springhill Hospice, Rochdale Parish Church, and at locations across the Borough including Rochdale town centre, St. Luke’s Chuch in Heywood, Heywood Market, Wardle, Littleborough and Middleton.
Each light on the tree will represent a person who is being remembered. Light up a Life is for everyone regardless of faith or culture. It is for people who do not have a direct connection with Springhill as well as those who do. The lights that shine at the Hospice act as a very poignant beacon to join together as a community and celebrate those special people who have helped to light up your lives.
This year we will hold four special services in the Hospice grounds under the twinkly lights and in the comfort of our fully heated marquee. The services will take place on Saturday 2nd December and Sunday 3rd December at 4pm and 6pm. These services will be ticketed (admission is free) to ensure we provide a safe and comfortable experience for all. A fifth service will take place at Saint Chad’s, Rochdale Parish Church on Thursday 7th December at 7pm.
If you would like to remember someone special, please use the form below to tell us to whom you would like to dedicate your light and which event you would like to attend.
At all five of our Light up a Life events, a Tree of Lights will be illuminated with each light on the tree representing a loved one being remembered.
