Hospice Fundraising Weekly Review

What You Did For Us Last Week

Pink collar boxer Gemma Bunting punched her way to raising a knock out £570.00, smiles all around especially from her dad, Hospice Head Steward Mick Downes.

Next up more than just your average night at the Ukrainian Club, a marathon soul session, 3pm until 1 am on Saturday 19th September, produced some very tuneful fundraising with Soul for Life raising a more than noteworthy £1038.00.

Pals Mike Jackson and Steve McAdam buddied up for a fantastic challenge in aid of the Hospice, travelling to the Lake District to cover 24 Peaks in 24 Hours!

“Saturday was a nightmare” reported Hospice supporter Mike,  “the weather conditions were horrendous, with pouring rain from the minute we set off walking at 6am through to 3pm. We were like drowned rats”. Unfortunately the conditions were so bad that Mike, Steve and the rest of their team had to miss one Peak for safety reasons but undeterred they climbed an extra one the day after.  After 8 Peaks and 18 miles of ambling on Saturday including Scafell
Pike, and 16 Peaks and 15 miles the following day, the challenge was complete

“This was one of the toughest things I’ve ever done” added Mike.

“Mike and Steve’s challenge was phenomenal but we knew these tough guys would do it, we’re thrilled they got through it and even more thrilled that between them they raised an astonishing £3058 for Springhill” said  Kate Bennetta Springhill Community Support Fundraiser
