Our Day Hospice opened in 1997 and offers a holistic approach to improving quality of life. We offer short-term rehabilitation ensuring co-ordination of ongoing care, choice and support within the Community.
Our Day Hospice is open 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday) from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm and we can cater for up to 16 patients per day with a diagnosis of a life limiting illness.
Patients attend for a variety of reasons:
- to enable the clinical team to monitor their progress
- to provide respite for carers at home
- to minimise the risk of isolation for those living alone
The majority of patients attend for a planned period of 12 weeks and are cared for by the Clinical Team. They are able to access a range of psychological and supportive care services to help and support them as they come to terms with the physical and psychological challenges which accompany their illness.
Services on offer are:
- Group Therapy
- Creative Therapy
- Complementary Therapies
- Hair and Beauty Therapy
- Spiritual Support
We provide transport if required, either by our volunteer drivers or for those patients unable to travel by car we can book an ambulance.
All patients are assessed by the nursing and medical teams on their first visit to us and a review is available to them at any time during their time with us, to ensure that appropriate care is being provided.
The Day Hospice Team of nurses, counsellors and therapists are supported by an enthusiastic team of volunteers who offer their time free of charge across the range of services we provide.
