A Littleborough Christmas Market and Fair doubled its fundraising target to raise £2,000 for Springhill Hospice.
Organised by Shannon Clegg in memory of her grandad Harry Webster, the event took place at Littleborough Cricket Club. Local shops and services got behind the fundraiser to take stalls and, adding to the day, a range of activities were organised for children including a very successful Santa’s Grotto. Donated prizes for raffles and tombola added to the money raised.
Said Shannon, “It was more successful than we had ever imagined. We had hoped we would be able to raise £1,000 so to be able to double that figure has been amazing. I can’t thank everyone who got involved enough for their support.”
Thanking Shannon, on behalf of the Hospice, Chief Executive Julie Halliwell said, “This is a brilliant achievement and I really want to congratulate everyone who helped make it such a success. From what I understand it seems like half of Littleborough supported the event in one way or another.”
Final word to Shannon, “This is definitely not the last of my fundraising efforts for Springhill. I’ll be thinking of bigger and even better ways to raise money at a future event.”
