Phased reopening of Springhill Hospice Shops

In line with Government guidelines, we will gradually begin reopening our Springhill Hospice Shops from 29th June 2020.

We’re looking forward to welcoming all our customers and donors back into our shops to help us raise vital funds to support those living with a life limiting illness.

At present, our Emporium Shop will be the only one of our shops to open from 29th June. We aim to reopen our other charity shops gradually after this date.

Safety is our biggest priority for our staff, volunteers, donors and customers, therefore we have implemented the following changes:

Our shop staff and volunteers have access to gloves, face coverings, disposable aprons, hand sanitiser (in addition to hand washing facilities) and facial tissues to make sure that we maintain the highest level of hygiene at this time. We’ve installed a perspex counter guard on our tills and a hand sanitiser station will be available for all customers in our shops.

Our shops will limit the number of customers allowed inside at any one time and we’ll have signage ensuring that shoppers always keep two metres apart from each other. All frequently touched surfaces will be cleaned regularly throughout the day..

Ahead of reaching the shop floor, all our stock is quarantined for 72 hours. Following the 72 hours quarantine period, all clothes are steamed and items with hard surfaces cleaned with suitable cleaning material before they reach the shop floor

We’re rolling out card machines across all of our shops. In addition, our card machines will accept contactless transactions which includes the new, higher limit of £45 for contactless card payments.

Our changing rooms will remain closed in line with Government guidance.

To allow for thorough daily cleaning in the shop, safe changeover of stock, and to allow our staff to safely travel to work, our opening hours may change slightly, and this will vary from shop to shop. During these unprecedented times we’ll need your support more than ever to provide vital care to patients and their families both at the Hospice and in their own homes – so if you are able, please do bring any donations you have to our shops as and when they reopen.
