Springhill Hospice fundraiser Melanie Caffrey, was dished up a real treat this week when she visited celebrity chef, Andrew Nutter’s new gastronomic venture, The Bird at Birtle. Rochdale Man of the Year Andrew, already a brilliant supporter of the Hospice, served up a cheque for a mouth-watering £4,000, which was raised in a golden ticket draw with purchasers hoping to win the chance of an invitation to the restaurant’s opening night.
The pub itself has been completely transformed with the addition of a modern extension that beautifully complements the many original features that have been retained within the building. Building contractors, and Hospice business buddy, H Bell & Sons having completed the works. With a new restaurant on the upper level seating over a hundred, it is going to be an exciting new addition to the restaurant scene in the borough.
“Andrew has always been a big supporter of Springhill Hospice so, when last year he was voted Rochdale’s Man of the Year, we knew he’d been redoubling his fundraising and awareness efforts. We were right. This cheque for £4,000 is from just one of his fundraisers. We’d like to thank Andrew and everyone who has join in his fundraising for the Hospice and wish Andrew all the very best for his latest gastronomic venture at The Bird at Birtle, we’re sure it’s going to be another resounding success.” Melanie Caffrey, Springhill Hospice Fundraiser.
