2016 Julie Halliwell, Springhill Hospice Chief Executive

2015 has been a year of consolidation following launches of successful ventures across both clinical and corporate areas.

Having celebrated the first anniversary of our Community Service, we are now in close dialogue with commissioners, giving them all the information they need to ensure that the positive outcomes for patients and families are understood, so that this fantastic service will continue to be commissioned from us in the future.

We are seeing far more patients than ever across all of our services, including the inpatient unit, day hospice, and psychological and supportive care.

We are incredibly proud of a number of developments during the year including our Palliative Care Passport, an education programme which is aimed at Nursing and Non Nursing staff working in Community homes, and our ecotherapy project, which is facilitated outdoor therapy designed to improve physical and mental well-being.

Our Tea Room at The Craven continues to go from strength to strength, and is far more successful than any of us ever envisaged.

Fundraising during 2015 has been more successful than ever before, beating all of our figures since the Hospice opened.

We have undertaken a big push to increase our Lottery membership during the year, yet still our 10,000 target of playing members evades us. Remember, “If you’re not in it, you can’t win it!!”

During 2016, we plan to build on the successes above, concentrating efforts on growing our income in order to meet increased service demand.

Thank you to all of our supporters, the people of the Borough, volunteers and donors alike, without whom we simply would not survive.
